At Banff’s Centre for Arts and Creativity Danièle Desnoyers will take a giant step forward in her research project “Ce que la Danse ne dit pas” (“What dance doesn’t say”), supported by the Fonds de recherche Société et culture du Québec to document the creative process for her next choreography project. From January 15 to 28, 2018, she’ll be in Leighton Artists Studios’ Cardinal Studio to work intensively on the staging of her script.
Élise Legrand joined the Carré des Lombes team last spring as associate producer. She is tasked with representing the company across national and international touring territories.
You might have crossed paths with her at the performance of Duos pour corps et instruments, presented as part of the OFF FTA, and you’ll be able to meet her again in Italy at the NID (New Italian Dance) Platform in Gorizia from October 19 to 22. Then she’ll take off for Mexico from December 4 to 8 for the Encuentro de las artes escénicas (ENARTES).
Invited by La danse sur les routes to take part in Parcours Danse’s official program, Le Carré des Lombes will present a lecture-demonstration of its new creation on Friday, December 1.
During this “lecture with dance,” Danièle Desnoyers, with the collaboration of six dancers, will invite pros to dive deep into the creative process driving her new choreographic project. She will illustrate her lecture with the help of short video clips featuring Myriam Arsenault, Paige Culley, Jean-Benoît Labrecque, Louis-Elyan Martin, Nicolas Patry, Brontë Poiré-Prest.
Lecture-demonstration of Le Carré des Lombes : Friday, December 1 at the Wilder building - Espace orange - at 1:00pm and 3:45pm (only for professionals)
Le Carré des Lombes performed Duos pour corps et instruments at the Beijing Festival New Dance, to great acclaim, on August 25, 26, and 27 of this past year. Artistic director and choreographer Danièle Desnoyers asked Brontë Poiré-Prest to take the stage with Karina Champoux and Paige Culley for this work’s repeat performance on Chinese soil.

Danièle Desnoyers awarded a grant from the Fonds de recherche Société et culture du Québec
In 2017 Danièle Desnoyers is launching an important research project on the documentation of the research process of her next choreographic project for Le Carré des Lombes.
Funded for three consecutive years by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture, and supported by the Dance Department of UQAM, where the choreographer teaches, the project aims to develop the most effective tools for documenting a work-in-progress, from various perspectives. The project also aims to develop new platforms to reproduce the constitutive elements of works in the performing arts, and to design new and dynamic forms of public sharing.
