Les Scénographies-Paysages |
Ciel et terre

2025

SEPTEMBER 27 TO 28, 2025

GATINEAU PARK, OUTAOUAIS

We, the National Arts Centre and Le Carré des Lombes, acknowledge that we walk, dance, and create on the unceded territory of theAnishinabe Algonquin Nation. We are deeply grateful for their generous support through the exchange of protocol and knowledge. We are committed to honouring their language and culture in our ongoing activities and collaborations.

We also acknowledge that we will be performing choreographed movements on the multiple memorial layers that shape this territory. We are committed to doing so with the deepest respect.

Together, let us turn our gaze to the sky, breathe in the earth, and listen to these spaces, these sounds that generously welcome us. We will remain humble and sensitive before these surroundings. Let us always remember what they were. And then, let’s dance.

Inspired by the beauty of unique outdoor spaces, each work in this choreographic cycle is created in harmony with a specific environment and responds to its cultural and historic setting. Dancers invite the audience to share in a wandering tour as the performance moves through natural and architectural topographies, allowing spectators to be integrated into their surroundings.

The reconstructed ruins, lush gardens, and forest trails of the historic Mackenzie King Estate in Gatineau set the scene for the cycle’s next choreographic proposition. Together with her company Le Carré des Lombes, Desnoyers sensitively explores the full artistic potential of this beloved estate. Pure, evocative movement gently conforms to the majestic landscape, offering a rich experience for audiences of all ages.

The boreal edition of Scénographies-Paysages is a Carré des Lombes production co-produced with the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. It received support from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec’s program Presentation of Works in Public Spaces or in Atypical Venues.
