La Forêt Mixte

2021

SITE-SPECIFIC CREATION AT PARC MARITIME DE SAINT-LAURENT DE L'ÎLE D'ORLÉANS

AUGUST 10 TO 14, 2021

In the summer of 2020, Danièle Desnoyers, in search of her ancestors’ home, discovered a parcel of land in the heart of a former shipyard that was in operation from 1908 to 1967. This space, called the Forêt des lisses, is now covered with a new vegetation, momentarily becoming an open space for the imagination in La Forêt Mixte. The lights of dusk, filtered by the canopy, reveal a dreamlike universe appealing to the senses. The night falls, provoking a festive and jubilant dance. The sound environment of composer Ben Shemie unfolds with the help of devices manipulated by the performers, surrounding the audience.

In La Forêt Mixte, the audience is invited to take a seat in the space, choosing a unique point of view on the scenography-landscape. Its presence breathes life into the place where a choreographic activity quietly develops. The creation, for seven high-flying performers, plays with conventions by varying rhythms and perspectives to give each spectator a singular experience. Together, all share this reassuring natural dome where the treetops define the limits of a mesmerizing performance.

La Forêt Mixte is produced by Le Carré des Lombes and presented by La Rotonde in partnership with Le Parc Maritime Saint-Laurent.
