MONTRÉAL-MARRAKECH

IN MOROCCO

The Montréal-Marrakech artistic team will be in Morocco for the first time during a residency at the Maison Denise Masson of the Institut français de Marrakech. From November 11th to 25th, Danièle Desnoyers, Myriam Arseneault, Abe Simon Mijnheer and Hugo Dalphond will be joining Taoufiq Izeddiou, Chourouk El Mahati and Moad Haddadi to continue the creation of this atypical work. A final stage of work will then take place in May, before the European premiere which will take place during the Festival Montpellier Danse 2023.

Open to otherness, dialogue and exchange, Montréal-Marrakech brings together the universes and visions of choreographers Danièle Desnoyers and Taoufiq Izeddiou. Exploring the half-light and the in-between, they co-create a work for four performers (two from Montreal and two from Marrakech), in close interaction with Montreal composer Ben Shemie and lighting designer Hugo DalphondMontréal-Marrakech questions the possibilities, the view of the other, the relationship to the performer, to space and light, to the very act of creating. An original, stimulating, sensitive and committed experience.
