MONTREAL-MARRAKECH

Agora de la danse

September 18 + 19 + 20

September 19th – Talkback after the performance, hosted by Rachida Azdouz.

Montréal-Marrakech opens the new Agora de la danse season! After a premiere at Montpellier Danse, then at the Festival On Marche in Marrakech, this choreographic challenge taken up in tandem by Taoufiq Izeddiou and Danièle Desnoyers will finally be presented for three evenings on the Montreal stage.

An artistic encounter with no fixed territory that leaves room for cross-fertilization. A hybrid score performed by two women and two men: Myriam Arseneault-Campbell and Abe Simon Mijnheer on the Montreal side, and Chourouk El Mahati and Moad Haddadi on the Marrakech side.

FROM LAURENTIAN FOREST TO SARDINIA

Le Carré des Lombes takes a retrospective look at Les Scénographies-Paysages in Sardinia; a large-scale in situ project carried out in July 2024 and conceived by Danièle Desnoyers for three emblematic locations in Sardinia.

Nourished by exhaustive research into the dynamics, history and resonance of these places, the Scénographies-Paysages cartography gradually developed and was put to the test during a residency in the forest, before traveling to the port area of Cagliari, then unfolding in the thousand-year-old olive grove of San Sisinnio Park and finally settling in the very heart of the Nuragic archaeological site of Santa Cristina.

The six performers – three from Quebec and three from Italy – accompanied by traditional Sardinian songs sung a capella by Eliza Zedda, gave life to three unique iterations closely linked to Sardinia’s natural and architectural heritage.

The images captured by Laura Farneti for Fuorimargine, Olga Bussa and Danièle Desnoyers present the performers: Myriam Arseneault Campbell, Giulia Cannas, Châtelaine Côté-Rioux, Rachele Montis, Brontë Poiré-Prest, Nunzia Picciallo and Elisa Zedda.

Les Scénographies-Paysages in Sardinia are produced by Le Carré des Lombes in partnership with : Fabbrica Europa (programme européen CRISOL)Tersicorea T.Off/Officina delle arti scenicheFUORIMARGINEArt Circulation and La Montagnarde – ATSA.

AN EXHIBITION INTO THE WOODS

La Montagnarde – ATSA
September 28 + 29

For the Journées de la culture 2024, ATSA presents an outdoor exhibition in St-Adolphe d’Howard featuring photos by Luc Senécal,  based on the documentation of the creation process of the Scénographies-Paysages residency at La Montagnarde, last June. The event is part of the L’Art est dans ses feuilles festival program.

Luc Senécal has been a loyal collaborator of Le Carré des Lombes for many years, and has captured the somatic and sensitive experience of the Quebec and Italian performers and transposing it into his work, by composing a mosaic covering an obsolete building, a relic of hunting in the forest.

Details of a performance in the forest will be revealed shortly.

CREATIVE RESIDENCY

Danièle Desnoyers’ next creation, which favors writing for ensembles, bears the stamp of a vital impulse, of a dance that is at once primal and avidly complex. Surrounded by eight singular performers and composer Ben Shemie, the choreographer brings August to a close..
