La Véranda

2021

Carte Blanche by Danièle Desnoyers on August 19th at the Jardins de Métis.

Danièle Desnoyers has been given a carte blanche to occupy La Véranda, a scenic space designed by architect Pierre Thibault to celebrate his twenty years of collaboration with the Jardins de Métis.

Set in a space where nature is magnified, the device is composed of an imposing four-sided gallery without any attachment, as if its home had been uprooted. This frame becomes the receptacle of a choreographic activity that unfolds on all sides, mobilizing the rich lexicon that the choreographer has built up over the past 30 years. The frantic movements are alternated with more meditative moments where bodies inhabit the gardens with sensitivity. The spectator is enveloped by the furtive and sensitive presences of the performers. Time is suspended.

The third artistic collaboration between Danièle Desnoyers and Pierre Thibault, La Véranda once again mobilizes all the potential for transformation of an installation. A game to which the choreographer, in collaboration with the dancers, avidly lends herself.
