Les Scénographies-Paysages in Sardinia

2024

IN SITU CREATION IN SARDANIA

JULY 11 TO 19, 2024

The Scénographies-Paysages cycle is venturing across the ocean for the first time, extending its reach to Sardinia, where it will unfold in outdoor spaces steeped in the island’s collective memory.

Conceived by Danièle Desnoyers, the project brings together seven dancers from Quebec and Italy to perform a choreographic score set in three distinct locations: the port area of Cagliari, the wild and monumental olive grove of San Sisinnio Park, and the Nuragic Sanctuary of Santa Cristina.

A poetic dialogue with these diverse spaces, the Scénographies-Paysages in Sardinia take the form of wandering tours. A cappella singing intertwines with the natural sound environments, inviting spectators to freely roam about. The performers’ bodies adapt to their contact with the existing structures, responding to the geometric patterns on the ground and navigating between the walls, niches, rotundas and excavated sacred wells. Together, the artists draw on the local culture and legends, moving nimbly between the remnants of time and the presence of the living.

Les Scénographies-Paysages in Sardinia is produced by Le Carré des Lombes in partnership with Fabbrica Europa (European CRISOL program)Tersicorea T.Off/Officina delle arti sceniche, the FUORIMARGINE Center for Dance Production, Art Circulation and La Montagnarde ATSA creative residency.

The Cagliari and Villacidro performances are part of the 2024 Cortoindanza Festival.

Le Carré des Lombes receives support for all its activities from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Conseil des arts de Montréal.
