LE CARRÉ DES LOMBES IS LAUNCHING ITS SEASON IN FORCE WITH TWO NEW CREATIONS!
Le Carré des Lombes is feverishly preparing this fall with a new version of Scénographies-Paysages entitled Ciel et terre, which will be presented as the opening show of the National Arts Centre‘s dance season in Gatineau Park at the end of September, as well as the creation of Soulèvement, a choreographic piece for eight performers at Usine C in October. Two new works by Danièle Desnoyers, both imbued with the same fabulous creative energy that transports us into rich and vibrant worlds.

Ciel et terre will open the National Arts Centre’s dance season at the end of September.
The restored ruins, lush gardens, and wooded trails of the historic Mackenzie-King estate in Gatineau Park provide a sumptuous setting for this new installment in the Scénographies-Paysages cycle, following Eaux et forêt, which literally captivated audiences last June at the Festival international du Domaine Forget.
Danièle Desnoyers highlights all the creative possibilities of this iconic Outaouais location, where the ruins spark our imagination. The performers’ vibrant, poetic movements blend harmoniously with the grandiose landscape. Playing on the close proximity between the performers and the audience, this walking tour offers an immersive and mysterious experience. A moment suspended in time that invites enchantment.
The boreal edition of Scénographies-Paysages is a production of Carré des Lombes, in co-production with the National Arts Centre, and received support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec’s Presentation of Works in Public Spaces or Atypical Venues program.

A month later, Carré des Lombes’ new creation, Soulèvement, will have its world premiere at Usine C. This production features eight remarkable performers. They are propelled into a scenic vortex from which emerges a multiplicity of bodies and sensibilities, boldly reflecting each one’s uniqueness. The work bears the stamp of a vital impulse, a dance that is both primal and avidly complex, where joy becomes an act of resistance. The show intensely explores the dialogue between dancing bodies, the abyssal music of Richard Wagner, and the electroacoustic soundscapes of Montreal composer Ben Shemie, a long-time partner of Danièle Desnoyers.

A NEW RECRUIT TO THE TEAM
Olivier Parent, Touring & Development Manager
Le Carré des Lombes team is undergoing a renewal with the arrival of Olivier Parent as distribution manager. Carré des Lombes is pooling its resources with Sylvain Émard Danse to create this position shared between the two organizations, an initiative imbued with the collegiality that drives our organizations’ actions.
Olivier’s career has taken him to the Association québécoise des marionnettistes (AQM), Théâtres Unis Enfance Jeunesse (TUEJ), and FÔVE diffusion, where he honed his skills in the field of show distribution from 2022 to 2025. Welcome to the team, Olivier!
With Olivier’s arrival, Le Carré des Lombes aims to continue the national reach of Scénographies-Paysages, structure the touring of Soulèvement in Quebec and abroad, and support the artistic team in the development of future projects.
Next week, Olivier will be at the Lyon Dance Biennale from September 15 to 21, 2025, before returning to Quebec to support the artistic teams of Scénographies Paysages and Soulèvement in Ottawa and Montreal.
